| EXPLORER POST 520: GLEN COVE written by SJB, 06.28.2008 |
| On Saturday June 28, 2008, Great Neck held the Antique Muster Explorer Drill at the Merchant Marine Academy. It was another hot steamy day, but the future firefighters of Glen Cove, Explorer Post 520, made an excellent showing at the drill. Under the supervision of Head Advisor Vincent Melillo, Advisor Andrew Melillo (Explorer Post Alumn and now an active Glen Cove Firefighter), Advisor & 3rd Assistant Chief Joseph Solomito, and drill team coach Ex-Chief Dave Spy, the Glen Cove Explorers placed awards for Hose Roll, Efficiency, and came in 2nd Place for Overall Point standings. The future firefighters, young adult Explorers, were led by Explorer Post 520 Captain Pete Solomito, 1st Lieutenant Brian Martinez, and 2nd Lieutenant Mike DiLeo.
