SIGNAL 9: HURST TOOL EXTRICATION written by SJB, 10.05.2008
At around 10am on Sunday October 5, 2008, Glen Cove Police and EMS responded to a car accident on Glen Cove Ave by Craft Ave. Glen Cove Fire Dispatch signed on the air with a Signal 9: Auto Accident, Request for Hurst Tool. While Glen Cove EMS worked swiftly to stabilize the driver, Glen Cove Fire Chief Martinez called for a forthwith response of Glen Cove Heavy Rescue 522, which carries the Hurst Tool Jaws of Life.

5203 was first due on scene.  5200, 5202, Heavy Rescue 522, Engine 528, and Fire Police 527 all responded within seconds of the call. Working closely with Glen Cove EMS & Nassau County EMS, GCVFD firefighters safely extricated the driver who was then immediately taken to the hospital.
