| SIGNAL 10 HOUSE FIRE ON LANDING ROAD written by SJB, 12.31.2008 |
| On January 21st around 1:07pm, Glen Cove Fire Dispatch signed on the air with a general alarm report of a house fire on Landing Road. Chief Martinez 5200, Asst. Chief Tripp 5201, and Asst. Chief Solomito 5203 were first responding units to arrive at the scene, set up command post and operations. Pacific Engine & Hose Company No. 1 Engine 525 was first due, connected to the hydrant across the street as first due team made their way into the house. Thankfully the hydrant was cleared from the recent barrage of snow couple of days prior to the incident. Hook & Ladder Company No. 1 Tiller 5211 was second due and set up in the front of the house with the ladder extending to the attic windows. Engine & Hose Company No. 4 was third due, followed by Heavy Rescue 522 after a second alarm was sounded. Sea Cliff Fire Department responded mutual aid with Engine 576, Locust Valley Fire Department responded with their Tower Ladder 546, and Glenwood Fire Company Engine 531. Glen Cove EMS was supplemented by Jericho Fire Department Ambulance 946, while Roslyn responded with their Quint 565, to the firehouse to standby in case of another alarm. The swift response by all units ensured a very quick knockdown of the fire and limited the damage. Thanks go to all the firefighters and mutual aid departments that responded.
