RESCUE IN THE WOODS AT HOLOCAUST MUSEUM AT WELWYN PRESERVE written by RL / CK, 06.26.2009

On Friday morning June 26,2009 at approximatley 0657hrs Glen Cove EMS was dispatched to respond for a head injury in the woods at Welwyn Preserve on Crescent Beach Road.

Within minutes Glen Cove EMS was on scene to find circumstances extremely difficult. The aided was located far into the woods in an area which had no access for vehicles. At this time Capt Kenary called the Glen Cove Fire Dispatcher to request the assistance of the Fire Department to remove the victim from the woods. Chiefs 5200, 5201,5203 & Heavy Rescue 522 responded to the scene. Upon the FD's arrival the Chief's had the rescue squad and EMS personell treck down the narrow path to where the victim was laying and the rescue squad removed the patient with a stokes basket. Due to the patients injury and lengthy removal from the woods, NCPD Avaition was notified for the helicopter to transport the patient to NUMC in East Meadow.
