Early Thursday Morning on October 1st, around 5:01am, Glen Cove Fire Dispatch signed on the air with a General Alarm report of a structure fire at 47 Hammond Rd, Chiefs 5200, 5202 and 5203 responded to the scene and Chief Martinez transmitted a Signal 10 working house fire. The fire was reported to be a deck fire with extension to the house that had burned its way to the attic of the residence. Glen Cove firefighters knocked down fairly quickly and with extensive overhaul confined the fire to one portion of the house. Command post confirmed that the fire was under control in about 45 mins.
