The Glen Cove Fire Department Rescue Squad recently attended a Hurst Tool Training Course at Firematic Supply. The purpose of the training was to learn the newest techniques in vehicle extrication and checkout the newest equipment available. The basic training consisted of learning multiple ways to remove doors and the roof from a vehicle after it has been involved in an accident and having persons trapped in the vehicle, as well as stabilizing the vehicle upon initial arrival at scene. Upon completion of removing the doors and roof the course became more advanced and went into how to lift the dashboard up off the driver or front seat passangers legs as well as making a rear door on a two door vehicle to be able to extricate a trapped back seat passanger. A good time was had by all, everyone came home well informed on how to remove trapped victims in all types of vehicles. A thank you is extended to Firematic Supply and their great instructors for their hospitality. Article R2 ©2009. Photos by 00 ©2009. All Rights Reserved.
