On Sunday, October 18th, the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of wires down and burning on Duck Pond Rd. Chief Martinez was first to arrive on scene to confirm there were primary wires down with active fire burning and to notify LIPA to respond forthwith. Glen Cove fire units were on scene for an extended period of time due to the fire and when LIPA turned the power off Engine 523 moved in to extinguish the area that was burning. Article by RL ©2009.
