| The volunteer fire service is strong in the North Shore. The City of Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department works very closely with neighboring departments, which include the 5th Battalion departments: Atlantic Steamer Fire Company, Bayville Fire Company, East Norwich Fire Company, Glenwood Fire Company, Locust Valley Fire Department, Oyster Bay Fire Department, Roslyn Highlands, Roslyn Rescue, Syosset Fire Department, and our next door neighbor Sea Cliff Fire Department. Glen Cove Fire Dispatch dispatches for not only for the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department, but also for the Glen Cove Volunteer EMS, and for Sea Cliff Fire Department. Recently, on the evening of February 5, 2008, Glen Cove Fire Dispatch signed on the air for the Sea Cliff Fire Department with a Signal 9: Car into a Building on Glen Cove Avenue, right on the border of City of Glen Cove and the Incorporated Village of Sea Cliff. Sea Cliff Fire Department responded in full force to this impressive mva.
