SIGNAL 9 MUTUAL AID TO GCEMS written by SJB, 06.25.2008
On Wednesday June 25, 2008, Glen Cove Fire Dispatcher No.2 signed on the air for a Signal 8/9 mutual aid to GCEMS for a worker fallen from scaffolding, assist EMS in victim extrication.  Glen Cove Fire Chiefs 5200, 5201, 5202, and 5203 responded, with first due Heavy Rescue 522 and shortly following Ladder Truck 5211.

A person working on the Russian Embassy entrance wall had fallen off scaffolding and landed in a heavily wooded depressed portion of land.  Glen Cove EMS stabilized and packaged the victim. Working with Glen Cove firefighters, they carried him out on a stretcher/basket and took him to the Glen Cove High School field; where Nassau County PD Helicopter flew in to take the victim to the hospital. 

Engine 521 was at the Glen Cove High School field standing by for safety, while Rescue 522 was also re-routed to the High School for extra manpower.  All text written herein copyright by the author SJB © 2008, All Rights Reserved.
